EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
Postdoctoral Fellow Dr Dan Santos attended the Winter School on Emerging Technologies in Arizona
Dr Dan Santos (Australian National University)
From January 3-10 2024, Postdoctoral Fellow Dan Santos attended a Winter School on Emerging Technologies in Arizona, themed around Impactful Scholarship. The Winter School is currently in its eleventh year, and is organized by School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University with support by the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure Coordinating Office.
All of the attendees were early career researchers, and throughout the week there were seminars on a range of topics related to impact, including: engaging with government and policy makers; partnerships with industry and non-governmental organisations, and innovative methods of public engagement. The latter seminar was especially helpful for thinking about the EOAR project; in this seminar, attendees participated in a novel methodology designed to prompt reflection and exploration about emerging biomedical technologies from multiple perspectives.
And, taking place at the picturesque and relaxing Saguaro Lake Ranch, there were also multiple opportunities to explore the surrounding environments on hikes and horseback riding. Overall, it was a wonderful and insightful experience!
