Big and Open Data: Mind the Gaps
Prof Sabina Leonelli (Sociology, Philosophy and Anthropology, University of Exeter)
Building on long-standing empirical and philosophical research on the use of big and open data within data-intensive science (see www.datasciencestudies.eu and www.opensciencestudies.eu), this talk reflects on opportunities, challenges and dilemmas involved in sharing and reusing data across contexts, and particularly in situations of severe inequity in power and resources between the groups involved. I conclude with some recommendations for stewarding and using data – and related infrastructures – responsibly.
When: Wednesday, 14th September 2022, 3:30-4:30 PM (ACST)
Where: Online. Please RSVP to openstemcells@adelaide.edu.au
