PROF RACHEL ANKENY

The University of Adelaide

Prof Rachel Ankeny is the Project Lead for the EOAR project. She is an interdisciplinary teacher and scholar whose areas of expertise cross three fields: history/philosophy of science, bioethics and science policy, and food studies.

DISTINGUISHED EMERITUS PROF DIANNE NICOL

University of Tasmania

Distinguished Emeritus Prof Dianne Nicol is a Chief Investigator for the EOAR project. She is interested in increasing the public's understanding around the complexity of biotech patents so that everyone can benefit in the long run.

PROF JOAN LEACH

Australian National University

Prof Joan Leach is a Chief Investigator for the EOAR project. Her research and teaching centres on theories of the public in science communication, language and rhetoric in science (both in public and in technical contexts), and the challenge of ethics in science communication.

PROF CHRISTINE WELLS

The University of Melbourne

Prof Christine Wells is a Chief Investigator for the EOAR project. She is a genome biologist with a focus on the differentiation and activation of mammalian cells, and a particular interest in the intersection between innate immunity and stem cell biology in tissue injury and repair.

DR EDILENE LOPES MCINNES

The University of Adelaide

Dr Edilene Lopes McInnes is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the EOAR project. She is interested in the research and practical implementation of the design and evaluation of engagement strategies that incorporate the values and perspectives of all stakeholders to improve decision-making processes.

Australian National University

Dr Dan Santos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the EOAR project. He is interested in examining the social, economic and environmental dimensions of emerging biotechnologies, especially with respect to questions around innovation, public engagement and openness in science.

MS MENGQI (CHI-CHI) HU

The University of Melbourne

Ms Mengqi (Chi-Chi) Hu is a PhD student in the Wells lab at the University of Melbourne. Her project involves designing a schema for an Australian stem cell registry.

Ms Rebekah Harms is a PhD student at the University of Adelaide and provides administrative and research support for the EOAR project.

MR MICHAIL IVANOV

The University of Adelaide/University of Tasmania

Mr Michail Ivanov is an undergraduate student at the University of Adelaide and a Research Assistant at the University of Tasmania. He has an avid interest in researching the legal frameworks concerning gene technology, biosecurity, intelligence and privacy, though he is always interested in exploring new areas of research.

Ms Tess Whitton is a PhD Candidate with HeLEX@Melbourne at the Melbourne Law School. She is interested in the ethical, legal and social implications of biotechnology and biomedicine.
